The Monday Switch
I was about to cross the street to my office already, dragging my feet and still sleepy, when the thought came. The Monday Switch! Well, it was actually already a Wednesday coming back from the Labor Day long weekend but still, it felt like a Monday.
Findings say that on Mondays, most people don’t even smile till 11:16 AM. People moan for over ten minutes each Monday. Heart attacks increase by 20% due to the stress of the week beginning on Mondays. Most of us have the Monday baggage, as a student, as a worker, an employee or employer.
There is however a switch that can be used for thriving, not just surviving Mondays. The Monday Switch series from Right Now Media suggest to keep these things in mind to enable the switch on:
God wired us to work. We are made in the image of Him, the ultimate worker, as evidenced by His awesome creation. As an example to us, He proclaims it is good after every milestone and took time to rest after all the hard work.
God wants to work alongside of us, every step of the way. We pray for His guidance in the morning but we leave God at home on our way to school or work. God is more than willing to tag along with us to our meetings, appointments, errands if we let him. He is there for us available to help as we navigate our day.
God wants us to leave behind our “Monday atheism”. We don’t only worship and serve on Sundays. It extends to Mondays and the rest of the week. Rather than stressing our work week as if God isn’t part of our lives, our work places can be our mission field. Challenge yourself, while at work or at school, how can your day bring glory to God?
Keep in mind:
I am God’s masterpiece. He made me ready to do good works. I have everything I need to thrive. He goes before me to work. I work with God. Whatever I can’t do, He does for me.
God empowered us already. With men, these things are not possible, but with God all things are possible. Turn the Monday switch on!
