Speak Out
“The heavens declare the glory of God;
the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
Day after day they pour forth speech;
night after night they reveal knowledge.
They have no speech, they use no words;
no sound is heard from them.
Yet their voice goes out into all the earth,
their words to the ends of the world.”
Psalm 19:1-3
The heavens and skies use no words, yet they are still able to praise God.
It’s funny how even though we, as humans have been blessed with the ability to speak– most of the things we say, do not praise God, much less please Him.
Do you ever pay attention to how you speak to the people around you?
What kind of things do you say to your family?
Your friends?
Or even your coworkers?
Can you say with one hundred percent confidence that the words you speak are pleasing to God?
I know for a fact that there are many times that I speak too harshly, where I say things I regret and that with these words- I’ve caused unnecessary hurt towards others and even myself and in all this- I haven’t glorified God.
There are times when I don’t even say thank you to God, where I fail to praise Him; not just in words but in actions as well. There are days where it’s just too hard to say something good because I forget that even though my circumstances aren’t good, that God still is.
Reading that Psalm reminded me that even the voiceless skies have a say in praising God.
So how much more should we praise God?
If even the skies and heavens and all creation that don’t even have a relationship with God are able to praise Him- how much more can we?
We are blessed with the privilege to praise Him.
It’s so amazing that praising God can be done in so many different ways, through prayer, with songs, spending time with Him, and sharing His love with others. The ways that He shows his love for us is immeasurable and the ways that we can praise Him even more so.
I want every day to start off with an attitude of praise because I can praise Him.
