Project David Update (September)
Man plans and God laughs. As Pastor Jong pointed out last Sunday, we didn’t rent out the usual school auditorium for the joint Thanksgiving service, as we thought we would celebrate it at our new building. So even the overflow room was full. But so does the list of things of things to be thankful for, even when it is not how we expect things to be. No matter how big the Project David undertaking is, God unceasingly proves to be bigger. Since the last update, He has amazingly provided us with:
- a solid renovation team which sped up our action plans
- from 0 to 6 contractors bid for the project
- a better gauge of the renovation price out in the market (jaw-dropping quotes indeed)
- 2 strong candidates narrowed down for further evaluation
It is, however, the lack of readily available funds that has been limiting our process. With this presented to the congregation, people generously lent us their savings and line of credits, funds that financial groups could not lend us further for being a non-profit group. Help came when we thought we have maxed out our options. With current pledges and hopefully more pledges coming in, the church has the means to do a series of payments over time and at the same time proceed with the renovation. We indeed serve an awesome God, one who operates beyond the means and the timetable that our limited minds can only foresee. Thank you Lord from whom all blessings flow!
