Project David Update (November)
As with most Mondays, mine was off to a slow start. By the time I finished work, I wasn’t looking forward to attending the kids’ school first school meeting for the year. Had I opted out though, I would have missed this reminder from God.
My God shall supply all your needs according to his richness in glory by Christ Jesus. – Phil 4:19
This school reminds us so much of our church–the sense of community, volunteers pooling together resources and time to make something work for the students. It’s not unusual to hear of deficits year after year as it tries to extend Christ-centered learning to as many families at the lowest rate possible. Like our church, the parents and even grandparents & alumni who see its value would time and again rally together to sustain the school’s goals. Sometimes, I wonder if the school will still be operational before Hannah graduates from grade school. I praise God today, seeing how He had provided for this place. A group of concerned parents puts up a thrift store business with the main goal of supporting the school. The past two years with the store’s inventory & volunteer time coming from the school community, it has been giving a significant amount of donation to the school. Today’s speaker joked that he was so used to saying the word ‘deficit’, it was so strange not to be using that word today.
With that, the Lord reminded me that we used to use that word a lot when we were new to renting our North York center. And now He has even enabled us to buy our own. The word ‘deficit’ may come up time to time in our conversations, but I’d say it is to remind us of God’s faithfulness ever since and a call for faithful stewardship from our end. It is exciting to see how the place transforms on every visit. Where there are no walls or a stage before, we can already see the place taking its shape.
The Lord is faithful and for sure He will also provide for all our upcoming needs. Continue to pray, commit, donate, dedicate to this project and as always, think bigger.
