Theology 101
For most of us, our conversion to Christianity preceded our full knowledge of God. As we continue our walk with God, we begin to know Him more through the revelation of His Word and through our experience of Him in our lives as He unceasingly demonstrates His unconditional love for us. However, throughout the many years of being in the faith, having listened to countless preaching and sermons from God’s anointed messengers of His Word, actively taking part in Bible studies and poring over the 66 books of the Bible from Genesis to Revelation, there remain a lot of burning questions nagging at us about God and the complexities of life that seem to boggle our limited minds as we attempt to comprehend them to no avail.
Some of those questions were answered when a number of us from the East and West congregations were given an opportunity to attend Theology 101 these past two Saturdays at the WIMO NY Centre. The two-day training marathon delved on major doctrines that pertain to the inspired, infallible and inerrant Word of God, the existence of God, the creation of the earth and mankind, the divine and human nature of Christ and His gift of salvation, the Holy Spirit and the church, and what is to come in the future.
While the training provided us a glimpse of each of these major doctrines and the much needed enlightenment on a lot of issues that baffle us, we have once again resigned to the realization that it is impossible for us to fathom God’s indescribable, infinite wisdom, and limitless power using the logical and rational inferences mustered up by our finite minds. However, no matter how much throbbing headache we get from trying to understand the nature of God and the possible explanations of things that impact our lives, Theology 101 is a great tool to equip us as we continue to share the good news to others and defend our faith when challenged by unbelievers.
