Membership Class – Event Review
On September 16th 2018, WIMO (Word International Ministries of Ontario) hosted its second membership class of the year, located at our east church in North York Centre. As Pastor Jong, Pastor Joven and Pastor Rey led the membership class, they introduced and emphasised on the structure, the ministries, and the mission and purpose of our church.
When my sister and I stepped into the room for the membership class for the first time, we didn’t know what to expect. Yet as the pastors started explaining about the structures and the technicalities of the church and its history, I saw how complex the challenges were in order to shape our church and how the faith of God played such a significant role toward its ministry. I realised how the journey towards how the church has become today wasn’t just composed by the power of a ministry, but through God’s purpose of forming a big family that praises and worships Him under all circumstances.
From the church’s vision statement:
“Word International Ministries Ontario will be a growing family of disciples living a word-centred life”
These words show how the church’s journey of discipleship and fellowship represents how God’s love and faithfulness venture in each one of its members.
Furthermore, the Pastors explained the church’s four main core values in which formed the acronym W.O.R.D.
It stands for Worship, Outreach, Relationship, Discipleship. These core values highlight a reminder to WIN People on how to partake the journey in living a Word-centred life. I’m really blessed to hear this reminder because it gave me solid guidance on how to live a good life that is also aligned with my walk of faith towards Him.
As the membership class ended, I felt that strong sense of belonging and vitality as a member of the WIMO Church. I didn’t just gain knowledge of the history and the structure of the church, but I also encountered the purpose and mission of the WIN people that surrounds me every Sunday. I’m so blessed that now, I get have the opportunity to be part of it and by God’s grace, I’m looking forward to contribute for its growth and vision. As this family continuously grow together in faith and relationship with a mission to the world, I’m so excited to see the path ahead for this community that God has installed for us.
