GO – 180 Young People’s Conference
On August 22-25, I was given the pleasure of attending our very first Canada-wide young people’s conference. Being a part of the planning committee a year beforehand, I had a glimpse into how much God was going to move in this conference. Despite this little preview, God had already gone above and beyond my expectations.
From the moment our young people had stepped into the Calgary based WIN church, there was something that could be felt in that space. It was a feeling similar to meeting relatives that you haven’t seen in a long time. It was crazy how everyone connected even after just meeting one another. It was the first time that our young people realized how far this thing called Christianity actually extended and how truly big our family of Christ actually was. Youth and young adults from Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver, Nova Scotia, and Sherwood Park gathered for the very first time under God’s banner.
Over the duration of the conference, we had the pleasure of listening to God-driven speakers. From sharing of turning point testimonies to Spirit-filled experiences, we really got to connect with one another, regardless of our different walks of life.
As the conference was nearing its end, I experienced God move in ways I could never have imagined. I saw how God has moved and stirred the hearts of every attendee, shaking their souls and foundations. People who didn’t really know Jesus before offered themselves fully onto Him. I witnessed the renewing of faith into something truly powerful and hearts wrecked by the love of Jesus. Truly, I have seen and experienced a complete 180-degree change within all the hearts of those in the conference. God was declaring a change and it was implanted within all of us. To go out and be Christian, to be confident in Jesus’ love, and to ultimately share his love across all of Canada. This was only the beginning, and God was declaring that.
God always finds a way into our hearts. There is no doubt that this conference has started a movement. Because of this, I am assured that at our next young people’s conference, our numbers would multiply. As we increase in number, so then, many more hearts will burn just as bright for Jesus.
18 “Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” – Matt. 28:18-20
